How to use Helium 10 for Amazon KDP
Are you a Kindle Direct Publishing author? I am! Check my Amazon author profile.
Using Helium 10 for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) can significantly help your publishing strategy, offering tools for niche and keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, listing optimization, sales tracking, and review analysis. So this is a similar case like the one we discussed on “How to Use Helium 10 for Amazon vendor”. There is no direct API connection to Amazon KDP’s, but there are tools you can use. Let’s take a look at them
Niche research with Black Box
Black Box by Helium 10 can help Kindle authors to find niches within the Amazon KDP landscape. Using its advanced filters, you can uncover profitable book ideas by searching based on keyword volume, categories, price range, and review counts. This helps identify high-demand, low-competition book niches.
But, if you’re looking just for Kindle books ideas, I’m sorry, there is no way. Not that I know, at least. There’s in no “Kindle” category in the filters. If you try “Books” and limit some filters, you may find paperbooks available also for Kindle. The filters are: images 1 to 1 (Kindle books have just 1 image), less than $9.99, just 1 Seller and sold by Amazon (“Amazon” on the Fulfillment drop list). But that won’t make it either.
BlackBox product targeting with a Kindle book ASIN doesn’t work either so I guess Helium 10 is not tracking Kindle books info.
Keyword Research with Cerebro
Cerebro can help Kindle authors identify profitable keywords and understanding competitor strategies. Just input a Kindle book competitor’s ASIN and Cerebro will reveal the keywords they ranks for both on organic and paid.
Listing optimization
While Helium 10’s interface may not directly sync with KDP, tools like Scribbles and the Listing Builder can help you define your KDP listings, but you’ll have to copy paste them into the KDP Seller Central.
Market research with Xray
Xray can help you determine wether a certain keyword, category, subcategory or ASIN is performing great or not. You can use it in any Kindle category or Kindle listing and it will reveal info, but based on the hard-cover or paperbook versions of the book.

Review insights
Last, but not least, Helium 10’s Review Insights tool allows you to gather feedback from your book’s readers and competitors’ customers. This insight is vital for improving your content and tailoring your book to meet reader expectations better.

Our take on Helium 10 for KDP
Well, as you may imagine, there’s not much you can do to fully integrate Helium 10 on Kindle Direct Publishing, but you can still use some tools for keyword and product research and listing optimization.
However, there’s isn’t any data on Kindle books sales or trends which may help you find insights on “classic” books and apply them to your Kindle books.
